Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is a well-known Indian actor, known for her roles in the movies Beta Saajan as well as Hum Aapke Haiin Koun..! She first began her career as a performer in the 1980s. She became famous for the film Tezaab starring the veteran actor Anil Kooor. In the following film, she was a part of Aamir in Dil. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she was able to learn dance from a very young age. As a teenager, she began acting and suffered for several years as the majority of her films at first were unsuccessful. She found fame and became one of India's leading film actors. Following her marriage was over, she took a few months to rest from her acting career before returning. More recently she played an integral part in the movie Gulaab Gang which was about the struggles of women living in India. Dixit was awarded fifteen Filmfare Awards nominations, of which eight she won. Padma Shri was awarded to Dixit, India's fourth highest civil honor. Her name is well-known for her charitable work as well.
